Abstract

Study the influence of concentrations of anti-oxidant 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,2-dihydroquinoline (TMQ) on
the vulcanization properties and mechanical properties of natural rubber/carbon black/local activated
precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) blends has been done. The purpose of this study was to
investigate the effect of concentration of anti-oxidant type TMQ on mechanical properties of natural
rubber/carbon black/local activated PCC blends by thermo-oxidative aging. The vulcanization process
was conducted with varying the concentration of TMQ: 0-7 phr. The vulcanizate were subjected to
thermo-oxidative aging at 100oC for 7 days. The samples were taken out everyday up to investigate
tensile strength and elongation. It has been concluded that 2 phr of TMQ was more effective at
providing better mechanical properties on thermo-oxidative aging.
